Life has a way of throwing curveballs—unexpected challenges that can shake even the strongest foundations. Through all of life’s ups and downs, there has been one constant for me: the unwavering love and support of my family.
I am deeply thankful —not just for the big, heroic gestures, but for the quiet, everyday moments that often go unnoticed and unrecognized. The warm text messages checking in. The laughter over shared stories, even on hard days. The funny short video sent on social media with no words needed to explain it. The pictures added to my digital picture frame. The way they show up, time and time again, no matter how busy, messy or complicated their lives become. And although we are blood related, they aren’t “required” or “obligated” to, but they still choose to stand beside me, even with all my faults and failures. They are the ones who lift me up when I feel like I can’t take another step, and who celebrate my wins as if they were their own. My family have been my anchor, my cheerleaders, and my safe place to land.
When I stop and really think about what I have in them, I realize that no challenge can outweigh this blessing. They remind me daily that I am never truly alone—that even in life’s storms, there’s always someone holding the umbrella.
Because when everything else fades, love remains. And my family is my proof.
There are moments in life when you realize just how much the people around you mean. For me, that moment hasn’t been a single flash—it’s been a thousand little moments stitched together over the years, each one reminding me how incredibly blessed I am to have them.
When life has felt overwhelming, they’ve been the ones quietly holding me together. Sometimes it’s one of my kids or my brother or sisters voice on the other end of the phone, saying just the right thing without even knowing how much I needed to hear it. Sometimes it’s the warm hug from my husband, the man that hugs like I’m the only person in the world, reminding me that no matter how uncertain the future feels, I am loved right here and now. No matter how much I fall from grace.
I think about the laughter that fills our family gatherings—those inside jokes that no one else would understand, the way a single glance can set off a chain of giggles. I think about the meals we’ve shared, the late-night talks, the way we rally around each other without question. We don’t have to ask for help; it’s just there, offered freely and without condition.
Another beautiful thing about family bonds is that they ripple outward. The values, traditions, and love we receive become the legacy we pass on — whether to children, nieces, nephews, or simply the people we welcome into our “chosen family.”
Family, I’ve learned, isn’t perfect. We have our differences, our disagreements, our imperfect moments. But the beauty is that love has always been stronger than any flaw or fight. They’ve stood beside me during the brightest days and walked with me through the darkest nights. That kind of devotion is rare—and it’s something I will never take for granted.
So, to my family: thank you. Thank you for believing in me when I’ve doubted myself. Thank you for your patience, your kindness, your humor, and your endless love. Thank you for showing me that no matter how unpredictable life is, there’s always a place where I belong. Thank you for loving me in my best moments and my worst. Thank you for being my rock when the ground beneath me feels unsteady. Thank you for reminding me, in a hundred small ways, what truly matters in life.
Some of my favorite memories with my family are in the kitchen—laughter bubbling over the sound of pots clanging, and the smell of something delicious filling the air. It feels only right to leave you with one of those special dishes that we’ve shared together often. It’s fresh, it’s nourishing, it takes no time to prepare leaving you with more time to hang out and it always reminds me of how the simplest things can bring the most joy. I’d love to share it with you…
